Flip Clones And WonderBloggiesVadoZ
My Flip UltraHD camcorder has been a valuable part of my kit this past year.
It's so small I can fit it into one of the pouches for my reading glasses, yet powerful enough to take two hours worth of HD-quality video. It's also in a 16:9 aspect ration and more than capable in low-light conditions. This alone helps it beat out another camera I used earlier last year.
How it's been used can be seen on my YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/geehall1.
However, it's a good idea to see what's also available amongst the Flip clones.
First off the rank is the Creative Vado. Similar controls to the Flip, 720p HD video, 8GB/2 hours. You can, however, switch it to VGA mode and get 8 hours of use out of it. The one thing I'm not so sure about is the USB arm being under the camera, as opposed to the Flip's side positioning.
Kodak, on the other hand, brought out two Flip clones. The Kodak Zx1 and Zi6 at least provide you with some choice, as explained in this article, one for more rugged work, the other for finer-grained videoing.
RCA, though, has me scratching my head on the Small Wonder.
However, for sheer classy looks, if not necessarily its video pedigree, Sony's Bloggie does have the most interesting appearance and a nice swivel lens.
Of course, when it comes down to it, it's about getting your footage, being able to take it at night and have good sound quality, with a simple point-and-click.
Gimme the Flip any day.
