Don't You Just Love April Fools Day On The Net?
I love April Fools Day.
Years ago when I used to be a tram conductor, my favorite April Fools Day joke was telling passengers their fares had gone up. They'd reach into their purses or wallets for more money and I'd deliver the punchline. They never expected their tram conductor to come up with a great joke, so even if they were on guard for everyone else, I'd get them every year. My first joke today was "Easter Monday has been canceled." However, with no link to go with it, I'd say that one was caught out pretty quickly.Of course, there were some great April Fools jokes with links to choose from later on in the morning. My favorite was the website for "mountain cleaners."Google supplied some real doozies. In the age of localization, seeing Google Maps in Ocker or Strine was quite amusing. Then there was Google's Predictive Search, with one simple "Go" button. My final joke of the morning came from a website convincingly telling of Facebook acquiring Yahoo. Unfortunately, that site became unavailable later in the day.A site called AprilFoolsDayontheweb.com provide a fair bit of good material for a few Web jokers. Then there was The Top 100 April Fools Day Hoaxes of All Time site. I did hear something on Twitter about Google developing nuclear weapons because of China, but I'm scratching my head on the taste of that one.All in all, though, April Fools Day is great fun and some jokes are real gems. Like the Australian Football League supposedly changing from the time-honored oval-shaped Sherrin ball to a round one.Priceless!
